International
Post-Mining
Symposium

About Us

The first IPMS, held in Zonguldak in 2024, established a pioneering platform addressing the environmental, social, economic, and cultural dimensions of post-mining activities. Academics, public institutions, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations shared their knowledge and experiences on critical topics such as land rehabilitation, waste management, socio-economic development, and industrial heritage.

Building on this success, IPMS 2026 Muğla sets out to become an international hub for discussing post-mining transformation on a global scale.

The event, to be held on 4–6 May 2026 at the Conference Hall of La Blanche Island Hotel, Bodrum, will offer a comprehensive program including scientific sessions, panels, poster presentations, workshops, and field trips.

In addition, IPMS 2026 will be held jointly with the 1st ECOP – European Conference on Post-Mining, scheduled for the same dates. This collaboration will unite two major events, fostering stronger international identity and synergy between European post-mining research networks and policy development initiatives.

The symposium is organized by MAYEM (Mining and Geosciences Professionals Professional Development Association) and strengthened by the academic support of Gümüşhane University—designated as a Specialized Mining University by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK)—in cooperation with the EU COST Action project REMINEDNET.

Set against the unique natural and cultural backdrop of the Aegean, Bodrum will provide an inspiring setting for this international gathering. In addition to scientific exchanges, participants will enjoy rich social and cultural activities, ensuring an unforgettable experience.

Let’s redesign the post-mining future together:
