About Us
The first IPMS, held in Zonguldak in 2024, established a pioneering platform addressing the environmental, social, economic, and cultural dimensions of post-mining activities. Academics, public institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations shared their knowledge and experience on critical issues such as natural recovery, waste management, socio-economic activities, and industrial heritage.
Following this success, IPMS 2026 Muğla sets out with the aim of becoming a centre for discussions on the post-mining transformation on an international scale.
The event, which will be held at the Bodrum La Blanche Island Hotel Conference Hall from 4–6 May 2026, will offer a multi-dimensional program with sessions, panels, poster presentations, workshops and field trips.
IPMS 2026 will also be held alongside the 1st ECOP – 1st European Post-Mining Conference, which will be held on the same dates. This will allow these two major events to gain a stronger international presence by bringing together European post-mining research networks and policy development processes on a common ground.
The event is organised by MAYEM (Mining and Geosciences Professionals Professional Development Association) ; it strengthens its scientific and institutional power with the academic support of Gümüşhane University and in collaboration with the EU COST Action project REMINEDNET .
Bodrum, with its unique Aegean natural beauty and cultural heritage, will provide an inspiring setting for this international gathering. Participants will experience an unforgettable experience, featuring scientific exchanges as well as social and cultural activities.
